Ipswich Transport Museum
The Ipswich Transport Museum collection started over 50 years ago with just one bus. Now it houses more than 100 vehicles and large engineering items designed, built or used in the local area. The museum building itself has historic significance. Built in 1936/37 it was a former Ipswich Corporation Transport trolleybus depot. The museum has been based here since 1989 and the building was extensively refurbished in 2001 The museum’s collection shows how people used to go about their daily lives. You can see buses and bicycles, prams and a police car, lawnmowers and lorries, fire engines and a funeral hearse. The amazing selection of local vehicles is supported by a variety of small exhibits, display material and ephemera.
